IWW operates a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) for all fields of action, ensuring optimal performance of all research and consulting processes. The QMS is described in the organisation manual.
In November 2008, the laboratories for water quality (WQ) in Muelheim an der Ruhr and Biebesheim, respectively, as well as the laboratory of IWW Nord in Diepholz, have been group-accredited by DACH (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle Chemie GmbH).

The division manager WQ, being the technical director, is responsible for the implementation of the standards of DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025 at all locations of IWW.
